Hi, I'm a writer and activist. I live in Puerto Rico, and presently I am doing a PhD in History, my Bachelor and MA degrees were in Philosophy

 

I'm a deeply devout Roman Catholic, but hold liberal points of view regarding certain issues.  I have adopted the views of Liberation Theology, which struggles for social change for the poor and the oppressed.  I'm also a partisan of Evolutionary Christianity, which integrates both realms, the spiritual and the material through an evolutionary view of the cosmos.

 

In the political arena, I am also a left-wing progresist, I support mostly the ideas of the Progressive Utilization Theory (PROUT) movement.

 

I actively struggle for Puerto Rico's independence from the United States. My most active causes have to do with Copyright reform, and the promotion of free software ("free" as in "free speech", not as in "free beer"). I try my best to use only free software. I use GNU/Linuxas my operative system, although I'm open to using other operative systems such as FreeBSD, PCBSD, or other free OSs. I also struggle for the cause of freedom in cyberspace and contribute information under Creative Commons licenses.

 

I promote the teaching of Neo-Darwinian evolution and I am against the teaching any sort of Creationism or Intelligent Design in science courses. Even in the realm of theology, I consider all forms of Creationism and most forms of ID to be inherently harmful. Yet, I don't regard Creationism or ID to be science. I'm a member of the National Center for Science Education.
