If you created a visual collage of your soul, what are some of the images it would contain?

I don't know why anyone hasn't joined in this discussion as it is one cool question. I have no talent at drawing or painting by hand or otherwise, so I can ONLY participate in working with my graphic art programs and making covers and collages of my photos or other "commons" images. AND of course in the colors I choose: liking SEA & SKY colors, with halos and bursts of gold, shades and shadows of cloud and sunlight, like reflections on water. For a non visual artist like me, collage is the most vibrant form. Those who are true artists can do it with the very colors and textures of the paints themselves.... This CD cover above is only a simple attempt at my Soul of circa 1987. I hope to take the idea of "soul collage" to an extreme next time out.... thanks to Luther posting such a fascinating idea...
Thank you for inspiring me...

"Kimmy's Soul Collage"

From within my center
where I reside
there's so much to offer here
where nothing from me can hide!

My soul, my collage
my picture paints. . .
I see different colored children
surrounded by haloed white saints!

My husband's here, oh yes, without a doubt. . .
and a Jamaican woman sits, with her hand reaching out
I see my mother, my father, all my children too
their gifts surround my spirit, for my soul to construe . . .

I see Holstein cows and a rooster in a doodle
Farmland rows of alfalfa, and the whole kit and caboodle!
Like an emu egg teetering on a church’s steeple
The Lord himself, whispering, to all His people!

Black and white tiles
I walk on floors of me
A touch of mauve in the backdrops
and even a huge oak tree!

Leaves fall in color
orange is standing out!
Subdued in the yellows
seems red’s all about. . .

But black and white, inked
in my soul-filled draws and writes
Paints my souls canvas, contrasting
my dulls from my brights!

The scales of balance
and I’m evenly still . . .
For nothing outweighs my faith,
nor my ever or my will!

In all four corners, you’ll see earthly moons
passion flowers, roses, and little lilac blooms
Inhaling me, eyes, in keeping keen
touches the depths of deeper into this Kimmy scene

Pigtailed girls play
little boys in a tumble
blue jean overalls in haystacks
their little tummies in a rumble!

A tandem ride down, a country lane
Lots of brothers and sisters, especially Chris the Crane!
Lighthouses painted delicate, on German steins
A bunch of unmatched earrings and crosses, yeah, they've always been mine!

I see a Korean girl, with such beauty out,. . . and so, so, within
A little orphaned child, so free from any sin!
I see so much, yes, my soul collage is huge!
But for now, I’ll paint these words and let the rest just. . .

diffuse . . .

Picking up on Michael's observation about why others may not have responded to this question: my guess is because it's one of those that not only makes us think but makes us look closely at ourselves. Many people are much more comfortable looking away from themselves than at themselves and so have to dig a little deeper when confronted with a question like this. I've been digging since it was first posted:-) I think my answers are turning into a poem.
for me to see my soul all you have to do is see my art here my music or read my words because you see unlike many people i do not believe its a weakness to show your feelings or emotions but is in fact a strength only those who are confident in who they are have the power to be who they are. Most people are afraid to show themselves for fear of being taken advantage of or that you might gain some power over them as an artist and musician my life is a contstant observation of the world and its people and it never stops amazing me how many people walk around with there eyes closed either by choice or just by being obliviose just like the romens befor they would rather shoot the messenger than face the facts so i paint my pictures and write my songs and try to use my voice in my art i try to show the buety within and show the conections between us and all living things and in this i include all the wonders that are our planet earth so my colage is life and my soul is an open book
I agree with the above. I just joined the group. My collage would be the color of red clay, blue skies,
sandwiched clouds, and many, many faces looking back at me. Some of us don't look at each other
eye to eye out of guilt, shame or avoidance. When I'm sculpting my ceramic faces, I can almost hear them breath. Their expressions amaze me. One incident my dog attacked one of my heads, barked and barked.
I don't know if this was a good sign or a bad sign. I got a kick out of it. Later...
I am a 11:11 angel, ...I pray to be this celestial artisan...
Uplifted by Angels...

that my soul be sprinkled with passionate
thoughts of God's love, when I'm tired,
let their angelic wings fan me with
healing energetic breezes, let them light

my eyes with the lamps from God so I can

see what is right or wrong, bless

me with "celestial" knowing, wit,

wryness, color and an angelic sense

of timing, and let my optimism fall

like seeds to the moist warm

ground to take root in the footsteps of

others.

Introducing Ireland's Jaanika Talts

It seems appropriate that I should be learning about the creative vision of Dublin artist Jaanika Talts for the first time during Women's History Month. Thank you to everyone who kept pointing me…Continue
