Diaspora

He sets his eyes on distant shores.
The lady of his life hesitates.
But survival necessitates.

One? Maybe two? Or three years away?
To a land of milk and honey
Which offers nothing more than money.

He walks the strange streets.
His sun-drenched tropical skin
Makes the pale-colored ones paler.

To the whiter ones, it meant WORKFORCE ON SALE.
Browned by sunshine means a willing farmhand.
Hands ready to be calloused, ready to be dirtied,

The same hands that raised his firstborn
Whose cry only me… Continue

Empty Eyes

Roused from sleep, driven by need.

Into the crisp, cold morning mist.

Artificially awakened by the noisy time machine.

Hundreds out in the streets.

Chasing the metro.

En masse, crammed into motion.

Delivered wholesale into assembly lines.

The most pathetic sight to see.

Are the eyes of them bound by slavery.

For a measly sum, borne out of of sweat.

As those eyelids forced to separate.

Awakened by the need to work.

Wondering why one has to serve.

To people not of one's blood.

To mas… Continue

Four Chambers

Why does my heart have four chambers?

There are more rooms to fill, then.

Will a valve break if one isn't occupied?

Does this explain why one love isn't enough?

Will it be harder to mend a broken heart?

Quadruple the agony?

Quadruple the ecstasy?

To my heart's content might be a more difficult condition to experience.

Will the one occupying my ventricle have more weight than the one in my auricle?

And can I not love five?

If it takes four rooms filled for my heart to beat healthily...… Continue

Eve of Hereafter

In the still of the night, the shadow of uncertainty roams.

The warmth of a kiss dips into a summer of descending temperatures.

The intimacy can still seep through an unknown, impermeable space.

There's a void that threatens to implode.

What exists in the now is overshadowed by the anonymity of tomorrow.

Neither the sheer joy of assembling words can overpower the unsaid.

Sizzling in the present, frozen in the future.

The highlights of an evening fade like diminuendo.

It's a season of dis… Continue

Enjoyed the voluptuous blossom of language in your blog "Eve of Hereafter." The mystery here could as easily be of sensuality as it could be one of spirituality--yet either way, the pleasure it evokes seems bound to the frustration of uncertainty and impermanence. Thank you for sharing such beautiful work.
