More About Me and My World
Hope to have my own music website in 2008 and I am publishing 2 CDs of my jazz piano music through Lulu and other music sites. I would like to post music and lyrics, poetry here. Age 53, books published: one so far, a novel entitled: "The Last Renaissance Man", see the LINK BELOW which is my Book page at AuthorsDen
As you can listen in the player, I play piano and have done so since my New York City years back in the 1970's and early 80's. I lived in Manhatten and Brooklyn after growing up on Long Island. I worked as a typesetter in publishing and also briefly for Warner Brothers Music in Rockefeller Plaza in 1984. But fate intervened and in 1985 I had to return to Florida (a sort of cultural backwater) to go on kidney dialysis and eventually get a transplant in 1990. Still, those were good years with my now deceased parents, in which I played and composed much piano music. Of course in those years there was no internet; computers were primitive to say the least--but I've paid some dues, so enjoy this music, some of it recent and a lot recorded in the late 1990's

Favorite Music:
jazz, solo piano and guitar, then some country, and classical. A few favorite artists living or deceased: Pat Metheny group, Keith Jarrett, Duke Ellington, John Coltrane, Chick Corea, Thelonious Monk, Sade, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and so many more of the great Jazz Composers, many now gone.
Favorite TV Shows:
NONE-I used to like the Weather and History Channel but tossed the Cable when I moved

The first CD thumbnail is the cover to my upcoming Piano Jazz/new age release called; "August Ocean Overture". Also, I have been loading in the player at right, tracks from a CD I compiled in 2005 after the death of my parents: "In Memory Only" I will release that back to back with "August Ocean....

Today's track (01/23/08) is the last track to my upcoming CD: August Ocean Overture, Titled "The DEEP Abyss". The CD is finally finished but waiting registration to CDbaby. This is one of my few vocal songs and is definitely a JAZZ Song. Here are the lyrics full of ocean imagery and the emotions of pondering the Oceanic as well as the "personal abyss" we all face at one time or other -- but over all rules a Supreme Love that we "must renew, as the HURRICANE spins abouv YOU!"

NOTE: this song is on my upcoming CD and is fully registered copyright as Published.

the DEEP Abyss

KEY: in Bb minor> Sequence/groove with guitars & digital keyboards
1.
There’s a watery LOVE that surrounds us...
And the Eternal WAVES that ever pound us.
The schooling Blue(s), a Dolphin’s arc and the Last Whale, (and that’s sad)
2.
I look in your eye, but I can’t see through,
All the glitter of the Love the SUN knew
{2nd time:} // (…of the Love I once knew)
And above the GOLD Transparent, STARS hint at the abyss below (within)
3.
And there’s a WAVE that will sweep aside, in a SURGE this cultural High Tide,
And sweep clean, the PEARL SAND Beach of Your Love…
Chant: (in unison with bass & piano)
DEEP within the ABYSS… of Your PEARLY LOVE
Deep within the Abyss… of Your Love…
Deep within… I too shall swim.
[ Refrain OR play one instrumental verse with choir ]
And they move through a LOVE they must Renew
And the HURRICANE, it spins above you.
While deep within the ABYSS, the (predatory) SHARK still swims. (but only one left)
{2nd time:}./repeat: high chorus

And there’s a WAVE that will sweep aside, in a SURGE this Cultural High Tide-
And sweep clean, the PEARL SAND Beach of Your Love…

Sudden stop after …Love> then pause and Repeat the whole song with Vocals given a faded distance (further from microphone)

was recorded in my last recording session on the evening of July 20th, 2007. Too bad it takes all this time with my problems to get it out on the net, but that's how it goes when you are essentially forming your own recording company.

My novel, "The Last Renaissance Man" is available for purchase at the above page at AuthorsDen. You can purchase it directly at AD (signed copies) at a special discount, or if you more comfortable ordering direct from my publisher or Amazon, there are links to do that.

This novel was a product of my intense interest in English music history back during the 1990's. Perhaps, if I was trying to be commercial, I would have tried to write the Great American Novel like so many others, but being "Mr. Practical" I followed my heart and imagination into writing instead, a great English Novel! -- I will be releasing my second novel, a rewrite of my first novel, "THE GOLDEN FLUTE" in 2008.

But wherever you are, ENJOY MY MUSIC, its on my page here and samples are on my Bio at AuthorsDen.

Thanks for your interest

I'm thrilled! It's been a struggle and its not like I'll get any promotion, but if you search MICHAEL GUY on iTunes, my CD AugustOceanOverture will come up!
Apparently, since July my piano jazz/new age CD August Ocean Overture has been listed under pop jazz on iTunes. I submitted it to CDbaby's digital distribution in June. I am thrilled, although it will be tough going getting anyone to know it's there. Even I didn't download iTunes software until just last week. Than I dec… Continue

The Children of Light

We are the children of LIGHT,
We are the hope of the future
We are the singers of songs
And the lovers of life...
WE are the seekers of wisdom, the sowers of Treasure - and WE
are the lovers of life (and) the searchers of freedom -
And when the darkness covers
We become destroyers of hate - With Power to Conquer
And that POWER is LOVE.
We are the children of the future,
the seekers of light
We are the makers of MUSIC,
WE are the Destroyers of Night....

Hello Friend Michael--

Please allow me to add my kudos to everyone else's in regard to the growing audience for your music. There is a timeless, universal, and classic quality to your compositions that is destined to bring much joy to millions.

ALSO: Thank you for the comments on The Bridge of Silver Wings. I'm working through some distribution issues myself but bit by bit the work is getting out there. Peace and blessings,

Thanks for the compliments on my page. I'm glad you like it. I can't say what's going on with the music room. It is set so anyone can join, and two already have. Some sort of glitch just for that day I suppose. Maybe give it a little time after you click.

It's hard to say how much to put on my page. Those with a higher system can handle it, and I really want those that come to my page to have an adventure, but I want it to be accessible. It takes awhile for it to load on my end too sometimes. It's best to let the page load without scrolling down first. There is some script error message that pops up for me...just at that page, not my other ning pages; I don't know why! LOL

No, I don't take the photos. I do alot but I don't do much photography, not on top of everything else I do! LOL I get all my pics from google. I always hope I've not stolen something that has copyright on it by accident. I'm really becoming a stickler for that. The two latest performance pieces, I added those very recently, along with the Scarlet Balanga widget.

Have a great day

Hello Michael--

Hope all is going well as you prepare to hit the road and share your musical gifts with the world. You're the only the artist at CTI represented so far in two creative genres on Amazon so you will see yourself twice in the widget that follows. We're working on a few things to help escort visitors to artist products and this is an early sample. Hope you like it:
