What power, to hold in one’s own hands the ability to affect the present by altering the past…
In the 22nd century the world population has dwindled to fewer than a billion, with total extinction expected within a decade. Chaotic Theory centers around three profiles of a solitary individual – Antanas Rupkus, a young Lithuanian. In one he is a musician endeavoring to keep alive the work of American jazz musicians of the 20th century. Stoic and aimless, Antanas is incapable of…Continue

“What is that?”
“Are you challenging?”
Greg reached for the SCRABBLE Players Dictionary and began flipping its pages. He’d played this game against his old nemesis, Barry, plotting his strategy carefully. Playing his last tile a few minutes ago, Greg held a slim lead—347-341. The nearly three-and-a-half-hour epic battle had gone nearly the way he’d planned it. Barry had darted out to a quick early…
I remember when I first laid eyes upon you,
heard the song of your beguling voice;
I remember it with reverence,
my heart falling instantly for you,
for what I saw in you,
it was a star,
a brilliant shining star,
pulsing its light in your gently beating,
your strong and tender heart.
I grow wistful upon that moment,
recalling it cheerfully on summer days,
and remembering it for comfort in times of…

By giving thanks to you
one soul confirms
he has not traveled alone

I give thanks when times are hard;
just because they made me strong.
Living through lean times,
taught me to be a giver,
loneliness helped me be a better friend.
Why fall or break when in pain?
I give thanks for the joy I feel now and then.
I am grateful for the nourishing rain,
for the bitter winter that leads into spring,
and when the storm is over,
I thank Him twice for gifting me with a clear understanding
of things that…
November 29 marks the anniversary of the death of former Beatle, George Harrison. Has it really been ten years already? A tribute concert was performed, recorded and released on CD in 2003. A Concert for George featured many of George’s oldest and best friends: Jeff Lynne, Gary Brooker, Joe Brown, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Billy Preston, Eric Clapton and the two remaining Beatles, Paul McCartney…Continue
Glistering As A Diaphanous Mirror
I woke inside a dying star
She was in an array of alabastrine magic
Blooming as prolific roses and dawning daffodils
Her songs were that of every single bird sonnet
Echoing within a perfect stillness
…And the cranes over the waterfowls flew
And flew farther and farther into creation’s of time
As one hundred rivers and oceans were rushing through her,
where I seen…

C is for Cobb,
Who grew spikes and not corn,
And made all the basemen
Wish they weren’t born.
—Ogden Nash, Sport Magazine, January 1949
“Baseball is a red-blooded sport for red-blooded men. It’s no pink tea, and mollycoddles had better stay out. It’s a struggle for supremacy, survival of the fittest.”
Cagney Nowak is writing a novel around the 1905 shooting death of baseball legend Ty Cobb's father, William, by his mother a week before Ty was called up by the Detroit Tigers. Although she was acquitted by an all-male jury on the grounds that the incident was accidental, the townspeople of Royston, Georgia, thought otherwise. Gossip had it that Amanda Cobb, at age thirty-three - and twenty years her husband's junior - was having an affair and that William, having told her he was going out…Continue

O Lord, my spirit is weakened and parched,
from trudging through this present wilderness.
Send down on me Your abundant showers,
which are scented with Christ’s righteousness.
Transform the dry soil of my life;
please renew my strength and sustain me;
let my joy bloom once more with Your splendor;
keep my eyesight focused solely on Thee.
Rescue me from the encroachment of…
