Filipinos' Requests to the New Pope

Filipinos’ Requests to the New Pope

What does the Filipino Flock request the new Supreme Pontiff?

Let me share their thoughts:

Please , Pope Francis…

Pray for peace and goodwill to dominate our hearts

Organize a stronger, more pious throng of Filipino religious men and women

Put emphasis on reinvigorating the Christian faith of Filipino Christians

Encourage our lawmakers to pass bills…

On My 30th Summer

On My 30th Summer

Overwhelming blessings have showered me

Myriad moments of laughter and sadness

With a million minds  I have met

With a family of five I have set.

While this wonderful world keeps moving on

I shall share my talents and gifts willingly

I shall pursue my noble plans passionately

Hoping to be the best He wants me to be

While this wonderful world keeps moving on

I shall…

Environment Matters

Envy not Mother Nature.

Note its perfection…

Visualize a better environment…

Initiate programs for her protection…

Run for her cause…

Oppose environment-related abuses…

Nag those who litter their thrash…

Moreover, make others appreciate Mother Nature…

Explain its importance to humanity…

Network with others courageously as…

Workplace Orchestra

WorkplaceOrchestra

At ten, one sunny Sunday morn

A recollection stirred an intuition

On the essence of harmony

So, this pen pulled puzzling poetic diction

Trying to give light to an elusive query.

Why is St. Paul University a wonderful workplace?

Friends, please do tell me—why?

In quite a meditative mood

A metaphor did muse this gray…

To The Blessed Hands

Great are you

Oh, beautiful blessed hands!

Who reared me patiently, lovingly.

Yes, what I am now is partly you.

Great are you

For this fruitful life…

For constantly cultivating it

To become a full-grown fruit-bearing tree.

Great are you

For this meaningful life…

For molding it

Like a unique masterpiece.

Great are you

Promoting RH

RH

The hottest two-letter acronym

This mind wants to dwell much

But this heart refuses to focus on

Yet it ponders on being pro-RH:

Read…Heed.

An unsolicited take

On the issue of penpushing

Which Uncle Shakespeare didn’t bother to sweat on

That naughty Bob Ong creatively tackled in “Stainless Longanisa”

Read…Heed.

Read as often as your eyes gaze at nature

Poetic Push

Poetic Push

“Trust no future, howe’er pleasant!

Let the dead Past bury its dead!

Act,- Act in the living present!

Heart within, and God o’erhead!”

Longfellow said it so eloquently

Above everyone else is the supreme being

Gazing at his creations lovingly

Guiding his children singing… and seeking

Their rightful place to serve Him willingly.

“Why thou wert there, O rival…

To a Pretty Woman I Met in a Bus

To a Pretty Woman I Met in a Bus

At first a simple woman you seemed to me

As you quietly sat down beside me

I didn’t bother to initiate a conversation

As you were busy talking on the phone.

But as I was a little bored leaving…

Soliloquy for Mt. Mayon

Soliloquy for Mt. Mayon

You are the queen of all volcanoes

The master of mountains

The grandeur of Albay

The glory of Filipinos.

You are the pride of beautiful Bicolandia

The depiction of God’s greatness

The creativity of nature

The icon of cones.

To a Laptop Computer

TO A LAPTOP COMPUTER

O light laptop computer, listen:

You, who has seen my visions and thoughts,

Are helpful, like a pen to a poet

Composing the poems from my heart

Designing presentations from my head

Saving text, photos or even voices

Storing myriad files I impart

Showing vivid videos, satisfying my eyes

Airing magnificent music, soothing my soul

Listen, light laptop computer

The mistress…

Dreamland

Tis quarter to three in the morning

The clock ticks most loudly now...

While these eyes clash hard with the monitor

The cursor now frequently jumps

As if to remind this techie guy:

"Journey now to dreamland."

Media Madness

The horrible, infamous event

captured a million viewers

reached a thousand paranoids

because of this madness

The gun-toting man

who forgot the word "sane"

now has his name in history books

because of this madness

Oh, how I abhor the media

for featuring brazen helluva  acts

fostering foul infamy

Wicked media madness

Greatest Fear

Greatest fear

The other night I learned after watching a primetime television program that—just like me—Juan Ponce Enrile, the controversial Senate President and a fellow Cagayano, considers death as his greatest fear.

I found solace.

Imagine, one of the most feared Filipino and ever powerful politician still deems “death” as his greatest fear despite his varied successful acts as a highly regarded lawyer, former customs commissioner, former defense minister, and…

On Corruption in the Philippines

On Corruption in the Philippines

Zeus humbles himself to plead:

Oh, better stay away…away, oh, Greed!

In hundred hearts you really dwell

As a few pockets overflow to hell.

A million minds may have been tempted

Perhaps a few thousands have accepted

To drain the government coffers

To take poor folks on the noose.

Oh, greed, greed, greed…

In the guise of a grim gigantic seed

Of helping others with seeming dynamism

Of that… Continue

Information Overload

Figures

Laws

Ideas

Experiences

Shy away

From the maze of this memory

Clinging to this ever misty mind.

With the avalanche of facts

The storm of shared experiences

And the tsunami of ideas

The words of the world

Reel off.

Almost Nauseate.

Nauseate For the mad bulk of information.

Gazing Greenhills from a Humongous Height

Gazing Greenhills from a Humongous Height

On the 37th floor

of a posh hotel in Greenhills

Two eyes found delight.

With the panoramic contours

Of modest buildings

And boastful skyscrapers.

As the orange-hued lights

lined in peculiar ways

guide the moving motors.

As the iconic train

transporting weary bodies

negotiate the gigantic concrete snakes.

As the throng of urbane folks

enter enchanting… Continue

On unleashing,releasing verses

 As one draws images

Of vivid form

of sonorous sound

of striking sense

Cathartic!

The pulsating heart

Pours emotions

Sadness Happiness Excitement Fear Fright Gladness Euphoria Yearning.

Whatever that bothers

Finds form

Or rhyme

And yes, rhythm.

As these rambling  thoughts

Of reflection Feeling heavenly grace

And mercy to Scribble these words

And finding rhyming relief.
