She stares into a pool reflecting midnight stars
A scrying glass of mystic mystery
A portal to dimensions where the brave may pass
Without a password or a golden key.

The shimmer of green oceans in the mind's third eye
Reflects a myriad of distant lands
A chalice raised; a sip that brings the lips to sigh
Wingbeating spirit hears and understands.

The trees are hung with lanterns giving amber light
The sky's festooned with stars in veils of cloud
Reflecting in her eyes. In decadent delight
She takes another sip and sighs aloud.

The light green potion lingers lightly on her tonge
Unfolding tastes of mint and aniseed
Promising deeper pleasure while the night is young
Where evening moths and fairies stop to feed.

Gorgeous lines and splendid image. The evocation rings poetically true enough to one who has witnessed those "moths and faeries stop to feed." :-)

Thanks for the nice comments Robby! Glad you can relate... And thanks for sharing it with your friend. The photo underneath was taken by me with my phone, while drinking La Fee Bohemian absinte... And no, I'm not their PR agent ;)

SMILE A lovely, light passage on absinthe. Did your muse have a secret conversation with mine? lol I saw a few spots here that sounded like something I'd write, like

"The shimmer of green oceans in the mind's third eye"

"The light green potion lingers lightly on her tongue"

(I have a thing about writing about the 3rd eye these days), and there are are a couple of terms in this work I've been thinking of lately, some that I will write poetry for, like when you mention the word lantern in this poem, it reminded me instantly of how I want to write a dark fairie like poem called "The Lantern Lords" set to Japanese Flute (Shakuhachi) music.

This work really made me smile for how much it appealed to both my preferences of style, and how much it spoke to me on other levels in my psyche.

Thanks for the late night smile :)
