Observing the Mandala in the Shake of a Lamb's Tail

The card's name is THE NAVEL. This card has great meaning to Sage Sweetwater in the capacity of the traditional Native American mandala, a concentric map of the psyche. It is a card about cutting ties. This card resides at TAROT BY SAGE ©, a 28-card deck designed by Colorado Firebrand Lesbian Novelist, Poet and Storyteller Sage Sweetwater which can be viewed here:
The cards are meant to stimulate the imagination and will have different meanings to different women, each who will interpret them through metaphor for her personal improvement, spiritual healing, and sexuality. The inner meanings of the cards provide insight through six categories; MEDITATION, BEWARE, HIDDEN STRENGTH, HIDDEN WEAKNESS, SLANT, AND POWER.

Quite some time back, Sage Sweetwater posted a poem on Authors Den that had great meaning in her life, as most of her poetry does. This poem was written specifically for her rememberance of raising an orphan lamb in her young girlhood and nursing it with a bottle so it would thrive in its growth. How this applies with the Mandala and the personal relationships that go sour in our lives; we have to cut ties with those who have been deceptive in our ever-growing lives for our own survival and personal growth. Through raising an orphan lamb, Sage learned how to dock a lamb's tail by using what in those days was called something like an elasticator, a small rubber ring which resembled a rubber band, applied and stretched with a tool to circle a lamb's tail at the desired position to cut that portion of the tail off. This was done for showing purposes in a 4-H fair. This is not a cruel practice. The portion of the tail eventually dries up and falls off. It parallels with the Native Americans saving the babies' umbilical cord and keeping it in a turtle-shaped beaded pouch for good luck in that child's ever-growing life. Sage Sweetwater incorporates this wisdom all together in a poem she quilled, Nickelback and the Orphan Lamb Rune, the tune taken from the popular pop group Nickelback and wrote in personal lyrics by Sage Sweetwater, a witch rune caster who follows the rune readings to guide her. Nickelback and the Orphan Lamb Rune

how you remind me,
how you remind me,

in that warm straw
the ewe died, me
and the lamb, we
been down to the
bottom of every
bottle, nursed the
wool on that orphan,
grew into a leader,

nickelback and
the orphan rune,
we tossed back
another, the bane
banished,

you remind me,
you remind me,

always made it
as a wise woman,
I couldn't cut it as
a misinformed pawn,
and this is how,
this is how you
remind me,

in that warm straw,
that lamb thrived,
me and that lamb
been down to the
bottom of every bottle,
grew into our wool
and wiseness in the
shake of a lamb's tail,

how you remind me,
how you remind me,

nickelback and the
orphan rune, we tossed
back another, the bane
banished,

grew into our wool
and wiseness in the
shake of a lamb's tail,

oh how you remind me,
you remind me...

I myself grew up on a farm & perhaps that has helped me in the sense of being able to let go in other aspects of my life. Feeding the animals (chores) then slaughter day was sometimes emotionally painful for me-especially the rabbits I loved dearly & would not eat because I could still hear their cry on the dinner table. The wild rabbit I loved to eat. I enjoyed this reminiscent read & I can hear the lyrical song

Beauty in the mind reflects in the soul, and if Y asked you ' who am Y, and put a reflective glass in front of me ' what would you say? Would you see you, me or what your mind already knew?

Your works are of this quality and understanding, beautiful writing.

Interesting stuff - I don't know about "runes" but mandalas I do and I am using in my new novel; "The Golden Flute" - I guess your novels are full of these esoteric, unusual experiences - especially from Native American. I'll have to check out your AD or personal web pages soon! (I'm in the middle of a distribution decision for my CD now)
I'll be back - BEST michael

Nice work Sage, the work of one who has favored a trail of wisdom and knowledge through experience of the past to give back in return is favored in the eyes of those who can see beyond the reality of physical existence. I know a little of the tarot and see you have applied experience to create what surely will guide many who are seeking the same...

nice work, Sage...
