My Novel Is Number 4 on ESSENCE Best Sellers List

It seems a lot of faith, word of mouth advertising, and grass roots marketing has paid off because my first novel "Blood Kin, A Savannah Story" has just debuted at number four on ESSENCE Magazine’s Best Seller Book List for paperback fiction.

A friend who saw the list before I did called me at three o’clock in the morning to tell me about it and I got too excited to go back to sleep so stayed awake until it was time to go to work as a driver for my company, Concierge Taxi Service.

I really couldn’t believe what I’d been told until I saw it for myself, so got a copy of the March 2008 issue of ESSENCE as soon as I could. And then BAM there it was on page 108: “Blood Kin” by Robert T.S. Mickles, Sr. I was right behind K’wan at number three with “Still Hood”; Tiphani at number two with “Still a Mistress”; and Terri Wood at number one with “True to the Game.”

So if you hear a writer shouting THANK YOU READERS, THANK YOU READERS, THANK YOU READERS nonstop from down here in Savannah, Georgia, for the rest of this year, that’ll be me because I truly am grateful.
