From "The Meaning" - part 13
ASTROLOGORAMA
In the dark loam of the night
where the hand of fate has sown the stars
good and evil, black and white
are stirred in heaven's scrying glass
The sun, the messenger Mercury
the moon, the glow of Saturn's rings
bestow or steal so randomly
pulling at mortal puppet strings
For we are all as thistledown
blown and thrown at fortune's will
how often has man looked up, to frown
on midnight stars, so bright and still?
Can the heavens be to blame
for every chance adversity
every stumble into shame
each missed opportunity?
In the mantle of the night
where the hand of fate has sewn the stars
twists of fortune, acts of spite
are blamed on heaven’s scrying glass
And all is translated by modern seers
into conflicting horoscopes
in newspapers - and present fears
are translated into future hopes.

I wrote this poem in the year 2000, as part of a series called THE MEANING, which was a chapbook that tried to explore why people get depressed and unsure of what life is all about. It went into all kinds of beliefs including Pagan and Christian, also science. The conclusion had a lot to do with love and understanding, but no particular creed.

I may not post the whole series here because my poetry has improved since I wrote The Meaning; I have changed my rhyming poetry to have more complex patterns, which makes more flowing when read aloud. What I might do is rewrite some of it to improve the overall standard, and in the meantime post some of the better poems here, rather than the whole lot....

- Thanks Vickie! I'm glad you liked it. I have a video mobile phone now, so some of my poetry videos are filmed away from the computer and web cam. This is an older one in front of the web cam, with starry effects added more recently. The starry curtain was propped up on a ladder and parasol behind me! It kept falling down, lol... but fortunately stayed up long enough for this take, which I used....

- Thanks Robert! I do enjoy making poetry videos, it's a great way of getting poetry out into the world. This video was made a few years ago, but I recently revamped it by adding the twinkly star effects. We could maybe collaborate on a themed set of poems in your Gothic community or your Gothic discussion group on CTI.

The Path of a Creative Thinker at CTI
CREATIVE THINKERS INTERNATIONAL MEMBERSHIP GUIDELINES
1. Membership at CTI is free and open to all those interested in either the production or appreciation of the creative arts, to include literature, visual art, dance, music, film, spiritual theory, the social sciences, philosophy, general humanities, scientific inquiry, education in general, and other disciplines intended to enhance the quality of life for all humanity.
2. Materials posted by Members of CTI are their sole responsibility and not that of CTI management or any other member of the CTI site.
3. While recognizing that the work of creative artists is often controversial by its very nature, CTI prohibits and discourages the posting of any overtly obscene and intentionally inflammatory material. These include overt pornography, racist diatribes, religious slander, and any postings promoting discrimination against or the oppression of other human beings.
4. In the interest of stimulating creative growth, we encourage dialogue and even debate. However, Members should avoid leaving intentionally offensive or antagonistic remarks on the pages of Fellow Members. We can disagree and still remain a harmonious community.
5. Explore, grow, share, and enjoy your creative success.
Please remember, these guidelines are likely to evolve as the site itself continues to evolve and develop. We welcome and encourage your input. After all, yours are some of the best minds on the planet so we would be very foolish not to listen to what you have to say.
