The Absinthe Fairy
Sara Russell 15/7/07

When evening comes, with carapace of gold,
To still the wingbeats of another day,
Again, as with artists and bards of old,
La Fee Verte comes, to spirit me away.

She laughs at all my weaknesses and vice,
Stealing my dreams to sprinkle them like dew
Upon my unsuspecting, dreaming eyes,
To give my fantasies a greener hue.

Beware the sly persuasion of her lips,
Take care to tiptoe where she leads astray,
Seeking the lotus, where the dreamer sips,
As darkness meets the closing eyes of day.

Beware her kiss, beware her luscious taste,
So sweet a snare might lay your soul to waste.

Thanks Victoria! I was sad to see it go too. I think the editors I passed it on to may be looking for a new host for the ezine - a UK one rather than the American one, Hostrocket. I must get in touch with them to find out if they need any help with that. I am still writing poetry though... thanks for your kind comments. :)

I sent a friend to look you up at Poetry Life and Times, only to find that it was gone. What a shame! (For us, not for you.) You probably have moved forward to more time and freedom for your own creativity to flow. Good for you. I always enjoy the whimsy and the music of your works. Victoria C.

Thanks Vickie! I'm glad you like it. It was inspired by a certain brand of Absinth (their Parisian version). I sometimes have *one* in the garden if it's sunny, after work, it's a very relaxing, chill-out kind of drink, with no depressing effects (unlike wine). It's pretty potent, two would send me to sleep, so I drink it sparingly! :)

Thanks! I would still like to re-do the fairy's flying animation some time though, she trundles along like something out of Monty Python (Terry Gillingham's animations)! ;)

The fairy ended up looking mischeveaous, so it still works :)

Thanks Robert and Scott! I do have the more up-to-date version of Poser, but this fairy was originally created for my cartoon The Perils of Norris, which has always been created with Poser 4, to keep the same style. Sometimes characters made with Poser 6 look ugly or weird when they smile (I wanted the fairy to smile seductively). Also their woven hair detail can make the animation take much longer. They do look more real though I must admit :)

I might design an Absinth fairy in Poser 6 as well just to see what she would look like.

:) :) :) The absinthe fairy?! Oh my! LOL We don't want to many of those around. Gorgeous as always! I love the echo effect. It'd be nice to see more modern computer graphics, but older has its charm, too. I still like some 16 bit video games, for example HAHA. I will put up a brian froud pic very soon, maybe in that collaberative arts group I have, and we can write a poem each to it. I will do that later tonite or tommorow. I just posted a WICKED drum vid with turkish doumbek in my drumming group. Check it out! I am proud of the quality :)
