More About Me and My World
My name is Samuel E. Stone. My passion for the written word has made me a life long student of literature. My poetry is known in circles around the world for it's unique and entertaining style. I reside in the Pacific Northwest where I find the solitude of the region inspirational to my craft of writing. I currently have four poetry books, four fictional novels, one non-fictional store, as well as one writer’s reference book in print.

I was featured as a Best Selling Author by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Reports on 14th and 15th of September 1999 on their 80 television stations and in 37 million households. January 2000, I was a guest speaker at a formal event held in Seattle, Washington, listed as the First Literary Event of the New Millennium.

I was born and educated in San Francisco, California. I have attempted through my own understanding and insight to the emotional and psychological depths of fiction to create a realistic bonding effect upon those who read my works.

My literary stories have received five star reviews in the United States and Five Crown ratings in the United Kingdom. Since August of 2007 I have been the guest featured Poet, at the Poetry Plaza in Japan.

My career in law enforcement spanned a quarter of a century, during which time I served as a patrol officer and a detective. I received a number of commendations and recognitions, including "Police Officer of the Year," for 1982.

During my years as a detective I served two tours of undercover duty, working deep undercover. The first tour involved infiltrating an element of organized crime and bringing down a topless club empire, which was involved in the distribution of drugs and other criminal activities.
The second tour involved me portraying a burned-out Vietnam veteran who owned and operated a surplus store. That operation resulted in three hundred and thirty-six drug related arrests, including major drug dealers and the seizure of numerous fully automatic weapons including machine guns.

I had a wonderful career with many accomplishments; some of which included becoming the first law enforcement officer in the state of Washington to obtain a search warrant by phone, (telephonic search warrants have since become a common practice in law enforcement); writing a manual on the Landlord Tenant Act, which is being used by law enforcement and prosecutors as a training manual; clearing more than one hundred and twenty-five burglaries through the investigation and arrest of a burglary ring; and the apprehending of a rape and murder suspect single-handedly.

During the course of my career, I was involved in supervising both the patrol and detective divisions, including all forms of operations from routine patrol, to hostage negotiations, to murder investigations.

Upon retiring I discovered that my career in Law Enforcement was actually my research years for the novels I’m writing today. My novels are action packed fictional crime dramas based on my experiences in law enforcement. The underlying theme of my novels is “people in position of authority” have to be held accountable. I enjoy writing poetry in my spare time when I am not working on a novel. I firmly believe that writing is an art form developed over time.

I am the author of "The Sarge Trilogy," which are action packed crime dramas, their titles are Shades, Crush, and Downfall.
I am also author of Blink another crime drama outlining the life of a police officer from his youth to his retirement. I wrote an educational guide book called, The Fiction Writer's Bible.

WORKS OF SAMUEL E. STONE:

SHADES: ISBN: 0-7388-2101-2 Shades, is a harrowing tale of the challenges facing a Police Officer working deep undercover. He becomes caught up in the deceit and betrayal of the drug world and his own department as he faces the uncertainty of his survival and whether he’ll ever be able to come back after crossing over to the dark side.
CRUSH: ISBN: 0-7388-2247-7 Crush focuses around the trials and tribulations of a group of police officers who setup and run a surplus store as an undercover sting operation. The action is non-stop as bonds are made and words are broken in a string of conflicts and betrayals. Crush, is an unforgettable experience involving intense emotions as mistakes are made in life and death situations and everyday becomes a desperate attempt at survival.
DOWNFALL: ISBN: 0-7388-2655-3 Downfall is an action packed suspense thriller centering around one man’s struggle of survival against all odds from the system which he devoted his life to defend. It outlines in descriptive detail the Sarge’s plight as he takes on the “good ole boy,” system of community government and those who will stop at nothing to protect the corruption they have in place.
BLINK: ISBN: 0-7388-9891-0 Blink provides an intimate view into the psychological makeup of a cop from his adolescents through his career in Law Enforcement. It is an action packed suspense story focusing on survival. It is not a story that you will merely read but rather it is one that you will experience. Traitor Among Us (Poem)

Traitors Among Us People are not always what they appear to be, a world of black and white, yet so much gray, never knowing whether to stay, fight, or flee, dilemmas and decisions faced along the way. Whether friend or foe we often do not know, each of us have an agenda that is all our own, good versus evil struggling everywhere we go, we have suspicions by one’s manner and tone. There is those we trust, those we think we can, a journey where obstacles are many on the path, but respect and ho… Continue

Music Plays

Music Plays Thoughts and desires set the day apart, what is, and what was, never to change, ideas and wants bring forth new starts, life’s highway is always changing lanes. Not knowing the person deep inside, each day is a discovery of our being, feelings of the heart and mind provide, while forces of time are forever fleeing. Our passion is consumed with desire, while compassion is filled with hope, but together sparking an emotional fire, giving ingredients needed for us to cope. The art… Continue

CTI Spotlight Artist Luther E. Vann April 1-15, 2008

(photo of Luther E. Vann by John Schmidt)

Often described as a poet who utilizes visual art to write his poems, Luther E. Vann is an acclaimed artist who was fortunate enough to receive some of his first art instructions from recognized masters of the Harlem Renaissance. Like all artists of note, he shaped what he learned into a style of his own that fuses deeply spiritual imagery, metaphysical philosophy, and strong social realism. After a lifetime of dedication to his craft, his work will go on exhibit at the Telfair Museum in Savannah, Georgia, from April 16-August 17, 2008, and his first book, ELEMENTAL, The Power of Illuminated Love, is scheduled for publication in May. We’re honored for the opportunity to present Vann as the CTI Spotlight Artist for April 1-15 and invite you to visit his profile to learn more about him at
